16-orchestra-chorusx146Five Harvard Clubs Event at Tanglewood

A picnic on the lawn at the classic New England summer venue, followed by the BSO's performance of music by Gershwin and Stravinsky.

On Sunday, August 10, the Harvard Clubs of Western Massachusetts, Worcester, Southern Connecticut, and Fairfield County, and the Harvard Kennedy School New York Alumni Network, will be hosting a joint event for alumni during the Boston Symphony Orchestra's summer season at Tanglewood.

We will gather at 12:30 pm for conversation over a bring-your-own picnic lunch.  The clubs will provide soft drinks and dessert.  The concert will begin at 2:30, with cellist Yo-Yo Ma, '76, DMU '01, conductor Samy Rachid, and the BSO performing pieces including the American premiere of Camille Pepin's Un Monde Nouveau, Saint-Saens's Cello Concerto No. 1, and Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 3, Scottish.

Registration for all of the clubs' members will be centralized on the Harvard Club of Fairfield County website, and is $10 for adults and $5 for kids 12 and over, including soft drinks and dessert.  You must have a concert ticket (either shed or lawn) to access the Harvard meet-up location, which is not included in registration for the Harvard gathering.  You can buy concert tickets, and get more infomation on the program and the artists, on the BSO website here.

The meeting spot will be
under the large oak tree in the center of the lawn, behind shed section 11 and in front of the sound board.  There will be balloons to identify our group's area.
