Please join us for breakfast and conversation with Stephen Shackelford in Westport on Wednesday, October 18. Mr. Shackelford was co-lead counsel for Dominion Voting Systems in their high-profile defamation suit against Fox News and Fox Corporation, which settled last April for a breathtaking $787.5 million, believed to be the largest defamation settlement in US history. Mr. Shackelford will talk about his work on this complex case, as well as share his insights on the First Amendment in an era of ubiquitous social media and news streaming.
Mr. Shackelford is a 1999 graduate of Harvard College and a 2005 graduate of Harvard Law School, where he was awarded the Fay Diploma for achieving the highest grade point average in his class. He clerked for Judge Michael Boudin of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and for Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer before joining the law firm of Susman Godfrey, where he is now a partner. Mr. Shackelford has litigated high-stakes cases for plaintiffs and defendants in state and federal courts across the country, in a range of matters including commercial disputes, securities fraud, intellectual property, class actions and defamation cases.
