Harvard Club Annual Dinner with David Friedman
David Friedman, Executive Vice President, Legal & Government Affairs and Chief Compliance Officer for the Boston Red Sox, will be the speaker at our 2023 annual dinner on Thursday, June 15h at the Country Club of New Canaan.
Please join us for the Club's 2023 Annual Meeting and Dinner on Thursday, June 15th at the Country Club of New Canaan. We are excited to welcome David Friedman, Executive Vice President, Legal & Government Affairs and Chief Compliance Officer for the Boston Red Sox, as our speaker. Mr. Friedman will talk about his work as the top lawyer for the Red Sox and the career path that led him there. He will also share some history you might not know, about how Harvard alumni have shaped the world of baseball.
Mr. Friedman is a 1993 graduate of Harvard College and a 1996 graduate of Harvard Law School, where he was President of the Harvard Law Review. After law school, he served as a law clerk to federal appeals court Judge Michael Boudin and Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens. Mr. Friedman worked for several years at the law firm of Hill & Barlow, and he served as Counsel and Chief Policy Advisor to Massachusetts Senate President Robert Travaglini. Prior to joining the Red Sox in 2010, Mr. Friedman served as First Assistant Attorney General for Massachusetts, where he advised A.G. Martha Coakley and managed an office of 490 staff. Mr. Friedman handles a variety of legal matters for the Red Sox, including regulatory compliance issues and oversight of litigation, and assists with the club's interactions with Major League Baseball and other teams. He is responsible for government and neighborhood relations and serves as counsel to the Red Sox Foundation, one of the largest team charities in the MLB. He has taught courses at HLS on government, management and leadership issues.
This event is a highlight of our program calendar every year, when we can enjoy one another's company and also welcome graduating high school seniors from local schools who will be attending Harvard this fall. This year, thanks to the generosity of Mr. Friedman and the Red Sox, we are pleased to offer each Dinner attendee a chance to win one of two pairs of Red Sox tickets for a game this season! Seats are located in the Infield Grandstand (estimated value $61/ticket, or $122 for a pair). Tickets may be used to attend a game at Fenway Park on a mutually convenient date (based on availability), as agreed with Mr. Friedman.
We will start with cocktails and conversation at 6 pm, followed by dinner. Cash bar.
