Local Author Dan Esty-Clean Energy
Local alumnus and Yale Professor Dan Esty will discuss Pathways to a Sustainable Future, his plan to get businesses and governments to start using sustainable energy to slow climate change.
This is our first local author event of the 201-2022 series. Professor Esty will speak to us via Zoom about his approach towards sustainable energy and achieving zero-net carbon emissions. His cutting-edge thinking about climate change and energy sustainability involves regulatory reform, energy policy, environmental regulation and sustainability metrics. He co-authored America's Zero Carbon Action plan (ZCAP), a decarbonization strategy to achieve net-zero greenhouse had emissions by 2050.
He is the prize-wining author of Green to Gold: How Smart Companies Use Environmental Strategy to Innovate, Create Value, and Build Competetive Advantage which was named the top "green business" of the last decade. In addition to numerous articles and books, he has most recently written A Better Planet: 40 Big Ideas for a Sustainable Future.
Professor Esty is the Hillhouse Professor at Yale University with appointments in Yale Law School, Yale Environment School and Yale School of Management. His is director of the Yale Center for Environmental Law and Policy. His career includes senior positions at the Environmental Protection Agency, Commissioner of Connecticut's Department of Energy and Envionmental Proetection, and providing strategies for companies, governments, international organizations, NGO's and foundations around the world.
