RaynorVirtual Talk with Rev. Andrea Raynor, MDiv '86

Join Rev. Andrea Raynor, MDiv '86, on May 24 for "Finding Your Compass:  How to navigate when you cannot see the stars"

Most of us will inevitably face times of crisis or difficulty.  It may be prompted by a serious illness or the death of a loved one, a loss of a job or a relationship.  When these times come, how do we stay centered and able to move into the future with confidence and hope?

Rev. Andrea Raynor, MDiv ’86, will share her experiences as a hospice chaplain, a chaplain to the morgue at Ground Zero, a bereavement counselor, and a cancer survivor to offer insight into how to maintain hope through whatever life brings.  She has helped thousands of families navigate the final chapters of their lives peacefully and with dignity, and has guided others, in every stage of life, to find clarity and purpose.

Meet Rev. Andrea Raynor:
Andrea Raynor, a graduate of Harvard Divinity School, is a chaplain, speaker, and writer.  She served as a hospice chaplain for over twenty years, providing spiritual support to the terminally ill and to their families.  As Spiritual Counselor at Greenwich Hospital Home Hospice in Greenwich, CT, Andrea created a communitywide bereavement program, facilitating multiple groups throughout the year. Prior to this, she worked with the homeless in NYC and Boston, and was a pastor to churches in NY, CT, and MA.

In the aftermath of September 11th, she served as a chaplain to the Temporary Morgue at Ground Zero in NYC.  Along with chaplains from multiple faith traditions, each one covering an eight-hour shift, Andrea offered blessings over the remains of those who perished and support to the many workers there.  She is a 9/11-related cancer survivor, and has written about the journey of being on both sides of the table—as chaplain and patient.  She has lectured throughout the country and has appeared as a guest on public television and radio.  She lives in Rye, New York, where she is also the Chaplain to the Fire Department.
