Our club's Food & Spirits Society will hold its first event of the year - an authentic Sichuan banquet - on September 28, at Shu in Fairfield.

The menu will cater to the curious, the in-the-know, and the intrepid, with Sichuan standards from Shu's regular menu, like chongqing chicken, dandan noodles, and spicy cuttlefish, as well as tripe, beef tendon, and other specials prepared just for us.  Our hosts will temper the storied Sichuan spiciness to your individual taste, and speak with us about the flavors, techniques, and history of the cuisine that has been sweeping world capitals and that recently led Chengdu to be named a UNESCO City of Gastronomy.  There will also be a film about Sichuan province available in Shu's bar.
