couldn't_throw_it_outVirtual Talk with Michael Small '79

Join former People Magazine reporter Michael Small for a discussion of his podcast series, "I Couldn't Throw It Out"

Since he was six years old, Michael has saved treasures in 24 boxes. But now, it's time to throw it all out. With help from a podcast co-host that he has known since fifth grade, he tells the story behind each object - and they TRY to toss it out.

The objects include more than 100 tapes and transcripts from his 16 years as a reporter for People Magazine, including excerpts from his interviews with Joni Mitchell, Kiefer Sutherland, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and rapper Eazy-E. In addition, multiple episodes directly involve Harvard, from Michael's attempt to impress Flashdance actress Jennifer Beals with his Harvard degree, while she was at Yale, to his wife's third kidney transplant - a match that started all the way back at Currier House.

From having his plays presented in the New York International Theater Festival and the HOWL Festival to co-writing the book for the musical The IT Girl, Michael is an engaging, thoughtful, and creative storyteller who is sure to capture your attention. As we look ahead to the season of "spring cleaning," join us in listening to his stories, and perhaps we'll all be a bit closer to "throwing it out."
