Enjoy an afternoon of art and treats for the whole family at the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum in Ridgefield. A museum curator will lead adult guests on an insightful tour (about 1 hour) of the Aldrich's exhibit, Painting in Four Takes, which takes up all of the museum's galleries and showcases the works and practices of four engaging painters "who imbue the medium with relevance and character." (For more info, click here: http://aldrichart.org/exhibitions.)
Meanwhile, in the Museum's Education Center, a teaching artist and museum educator will lead guests' children (age 3 or over) in an art-making experience with an unusual approach. With eyes closed, participants will paint abstract shapes in various colors and movements, then use ink and markers to draw features and details, creating a fanciful creature that looks to the imagery of Steve DiBenedetto, one of the artists featured in Painting in Four Takes.
Afterwards,
guests can socialize at a prosecco reception in the Museum's Leir
Atrium, with sweets from The Cake Box in Ridgefield; non-alcoholic
beverages will also be available.
Children over 10 may choose to participate in either the tour or the art-making experience.
Children under 3 must be accompanied by an adult in the Education Center.
$30/member or member guest; $40/nonmember or nonmember guest. Free for children 18 or under.
