More about Lauren
—  Years ago, Lauren founded a not for profit company called Hands-On-Food, Inc. for the purpose of educating high-risk, low-income people on how to use the kitchen as a place and the art (or sport) of cooking and baking as a way to make family life at home more nurturing and healing. For eleven years, through Hands-On-Food, Lauren built and sustained a teaching kitchen/program in the high-school, for female inmates, on Rikers Island. After that, she founded and sustained a certificate-based cooking program at the Brooklyn Residential Center, for female adolescents remanded to this facility for 6 months to 1 year.
